Just to catch you up

Sorry about my absence but it turned out that my laptop's hard disk was partly burned out and I'm wainting for it to be repaired. In the meantime I'm using my dad's ancient computer and everything I try to do takes forever so I just couldn't spare the nerves to try and prepare a post.
Sadly enough once I manage to get my laptop back I'll be quite busy with exams and papers so I won't have the time to post very often in July.

Still, I feel quite guilty for not posting so I'd like to share the five outfits I created last week for yet another amazing competition hosted by Stardoll's Most Wanted.
This one was simply called the Fashion Challenge and each day we had to create an outfit for a different topic.
*I will add the items I have used for each outfit as soon as I get a little free time after I get my laptop back.

Day one: Stripes and Florals

As you can see we had to mix stripes and floral prints in the main pieces of clothing. Unfortunately none of the floral items I own looked good with strpies so I improvised and used this beautiful tattoo from Ink'd to decorate the dress worn as skirt.
In the Byzantine Empire this particular shade of purple used to represent power and royalty and I decided to use it in the top and the shoes as well to give the outfit a regal finish.

Day two: Cheap and Chic

For the second challange we had to use only free clothes. Luckily, we were allowed to accessorize our outfits with non-free items. I have over 150 freebies buut most of them are quite bad - the colors are odd, the prints are too weird, the shapes are unflattering to say the least and most of the designs are flat. Not to mention the lack of basic free clothes - a well-fitted black/white blazer, a nice plain top, ect.
I decied on a simple business casual outfit with brightly colored accessories.

Day three: Overall Overhaul

For me that was the hardest day. We had to crate an outfit focused on denim overalls and, as most people with any fashion sense, I hate overalls! In the end I decied to go full hipster and crate an outfit that screams "I'm too cool to care it's not the 90s anymore - I can wear whatver the fuck I want!"
Now that I'm looking back at the look, I wish I added more tattoos but whatever!

Day four:  Military Chic

In my younger and more impressionable years (yeah, I'm misquoting The Great Gastby) I was crazy about camo prints and army green. As my style matured the only part of miliraty inspired fashion I still like are the jackets. So naturallly when I saw the theme for day four I knew I was gonna focus on an army jacket.
Both me and the amazing Katya.Desmont went for a little more controversial looks kinda inspired by the Nazi unforms during WW II (designed by Hugo Boss). As I was doing my research I found out that to this day there is such a thing as Nazi chic and that for some reason it is huge in Asia. Now, I cannot emphasize enough how ashamed and  revolted I am as a human being by the horrors of the Third Reich and to ensure everyone I have no sympathy neither for the regime nor for anyone that approves of it. All that being said, when we are talking about miliraty chic my mind always go right to the Gestapo uniforms.
Still, I liked Katya's outfit so much and I really didn't like to copy it but no other outfit I created had the same appeal as the one shown above.
It has that fetish/dominatrix vibe that was super tendy back in 2011. But what I like most about it is the way the acents make the eyes go from right (the one earring and the uneven collar) to left (the single glove) to right again (the boot shown in the slit of the skirt).

Day five: Opposites Attract in Layers

The final task was to create an outfit using both the mismatching and the layering trend. Once I saw it I thought it was doing to be extremely difficult but after I started with the outfit it literally come together on it's own. I'm more than happy with final result - it has a lot of everything - leather, stripes, tartan, polka dots and even feathers and fur! And even though the prints and fabrics are so different, the color scheme makes them fit toghether quite nicely.
For me this is a modern twist of the classic 90s grunge style.

P.S.: Take your time to visit the links for each day and see all stunning outfits other people have posted in the comments, it's totally worth it!

P.P.S.: I just saw I had an old draft waining to be posted so I'm gonna edit it in a bit and share it.

Wear It All Challenge: Girly Spring

I love it when Stardoll gives us beautiful and well made items for free. In this is outfit you can see two of those items - the dress has pretty decent design and the clutch is gorgeous.
I decided on a casual feminine look - the laced collar of the dress called for it, and so do the flowers on the clutch. I decided on flats - adorable and comfortable. The cardigan is the perfect finish for the ultimate spring day look - I could easily wear this outfit for lectures at the university (though in that case I'd need a bigger bag), lunch with friends or walk in the park.

Wear It All Challenge: Auburn Drapes

This dress have always looked like something that would fit right in Serena van der Woodsen's closet - simple yet original and fabulous. The unusual shape does not leave a lot of space for layering but yet again - it is not necessary. I went for a basic outfit with black/silver accessories. Less is more ;)

In other words this is gonna be a long post! The designs are inspired by PPQ 2013 Spring ready to wear collection, the original pieces are shown below. The collection was in StarPlaza for 2 days only and I went a bit overboard when it came out.

Wear It All Challenge: The Final Frontier

I can't tell you how much fun I had styling this dress! Yes, the design is a bit flat and the shape is a bit odd. But I new there was a reason I couldn't resist buying it. It is so retro!
Initially I was planning a Twiggy inspired 60s look but the harder I tried the more impossible it seemed. Until I realized I was working in the wrong direction. The 60s were the time, all right but the theme was all wrong! And then it became clear to me why I liked this dress - it reminded me of the Starfleet uniforms in Star Trek: The Original Series.
Yeah, I'm huge Star Trek fan - and not in the "Oh-I-am-such-a-geek" way that has been increasingly popular lately. I've seen all the series and all the movies and I find them fascinating! There are so many philosophical and social issues the franchise deals with, a great humor and amazing characters. Can't help but love it! That may come as a bit of surprise given that a few posts ago I said I'm also a Gossip Girl fan but back then I made it pretty clear that was a guilty pleasure of mine. Plus, the fashion shown in GG is way more impressive than the one in the Star Trek universe!
Anyway, in the show all the uniforms were long-sleeved and I do not own anything with long sleeves in the same shade of red as the dress. Therefore I decided to go with the outfit inspired by the uniforms worn in the 2009 remake.

I realize my final look is not ideal but still, I'm incredibly happy with the result. I even made myself a Starfleet insignia in StarDesign hair (I can't believe I spent 21SD on it!)

Black Crop Top - Original Future
Paneled Pleather Top - Elle
Black Elegant Top - Basics

OOTD: Red Carpet Glam

This is a bit off-topic given that I really wanted to follow the order in which I've organized my closet but I just wanted to share the outfit I created for this week's Theme Day Competition  on Stadoll's Most Wanted
The task was to crate an outfit worthy of the Cannes Film Festival red carpet and I was quite tempted to use one of those beautiful Young Hollywood gowns from the Oscars collection. Somehow I managed to resist the urge and decided on the outfit I wore ages ago when I was campaigning for MSW.

Clothes:
Hot Buys Corseto - Pretty n' Love
Feather Frock - Archive /worn as skirt/
Pas Skirt - Voile*
Elle Cream Chiffon Skirt - Young Hollywood*
HotHotBuys Tutu Skirt - Hot Hot Buys*

Accessories:
Miranda Laced Sandals - Young Hollywood
Sparkle Purse - Voile
Honey Maid Bracelet - Honey Maid

Jewellery:
Small Gold Deatailed Earrings - Epiphany
Diamonds Headpiece - No Brand

*All layered under the the feather skirt

I love everything about this outfit - the colors, the little roses on the corset, the feather skirt. And it works so beautifully with this hair. I didn't want to ruin it with accessories so I decided on delicate pearl details in the headpiece, the bracelet and the earrings.
Oddly enough, just a few hours after I submitted my entry I saw the dress worn by Freida Pinto on the 4th day of the festival.

I can't help but love Freida's style and this stunning Michael Kors gown is no exception. And it looks kinda of familiar, doesn't it? I was ecstatic when I saw the feather skirt - even the color scheme is kinda of similar to the outfit I crated. If you wanna see all of the gougers gowns of this year's festival, check out the extensive coverage made by Vogue and IMDB's photo galleries.

Wear It All Challenge: Marooned Summer

I've always love this dress - it's so beautifully designed and the drape looks so realistic... and I hated styling it! The design does not allow for it to be worn neither as top nor as a skirt and as a dress it is way too short for my taste. I could've decided on a party outfit since I've seen a lot of similar dresses in clubs but it's just too slutty for me.

Edit: After I sent all of last night on style.com I finally found the real life inspiration behind that dress -  Louis Vuitton's spring RTW back in 2009.

The only way I would feel comfortable pulling off that dress in real life is while I'm on a vacation by the sea. I don't why but when I'm away from the city I'm not as concerned with being proper - especially when I'm in sea resort - I don't pack any bras, I wear shorter dresses and so on.
I transferred that part of my personal style on this look and I dare to say I'm quite satisfied with the result.
Fresh summer outfit with a hint of boho chic; fab headpiece and lovely sandals. My favorite part is the bag - it's works perfectly with the rest of the items.

Clothes:
Draped Mini Dress - Bonjour Bizou
Knitted Floral Vest - Folk*

Accessories:
Psychometry Sunglasses - Cheap Monday
Summerbag w Shells - Bonjour Bizou
Chestnut Flat Sandals - Philosophy

Wear It All Challenge: Cardinal

I've always liked this dress - the top part kind of look like armor and colour is simply magnificent . That being said, it is not very easy to style - mainly because it stands so good on it's own and it just seems unnecessary to add anything else.
As it says on the label,  this gem of a dress is inspired by Versus, and to be precise - from their first Ready-to-wear collection after Donatella Versace resurrected the branch back in 2009.

As I said, I didn't want to overdo the outfit. The dress is the center of the look and I choose small black clutch and delicate heels to compliment it. The only other accent are these amazing earrings - they are the perfect finish for a glam party look.

Sideway Stap Heels - Just Cavalli Tribute

Wear It All Challenge: Crimson Rose

I've always loved this dress! I often wear it with as a top with the Lavin Scarlet skirt tribute but this time around I decided to focus just on it. The dress was released on Stardoll back in February 2010 and was part of a store which was advertising one of the first collections of the American fashion brand AmyClaire. This particular dress was later released as a freebie so there is a good chance you can find it in the Bazaar for a reasonable price.
By the way, it was quite difficult to find proper photos for most of pieces in the collection, but I manged :)

Initially I wanted to pair the dress with something white, maybe a shirt or a blazer, but once I tried this trench out I knew they were meant to be together! As you can see I learned from my mistake in the previous post and I put this beautiful red lipstick. To top all that I added a stunning rose headpiece and adorable necklace. And the clutch - as cute as it gets!
I'm more than happy with the final result - the ever fashionable black/red combo is classy but the outfit still looks fresh and youthful thanks to the unusual accessories.

Clothes:
Coquelicot Strapless Dress - Amyclaire
Everyday Long Blazer - It Girls

Accessories:
Necklace - Sonia Rykiel Tribute
HotBuys Paris Love Clutch - Bonjour Bizou
MSW13 Sandals - Special Offer

Wear It All Challenge: Pin-up Polka Dots

This piece, inspired by Anna Sui 2012 spring collection  just screams Pin-up! I had little choice but to roll with it. Looking back it still hurts me to think that I've paid 23 Stardollars for it but... it's so pretty! This is one of the few items I like better on Stardoll rather than in real life but I do wish the color was a bit brighter red.

Given that the Stardoll version is quite shorter than the traditional 50's dresses I went for a more up-to-date look inspired by the modern tattooed pin up models. The cherry tattoo fit's the intent perfectly. I decided on patent leather accessories in order to give the outfit that glossy and fabulous look and I added the hear-shaped glasses... because I love the song! Just now I realize I should've put on a red lipstick but...I'm to lazy to do that now!

Clothes:
Hotbuys Poka Dot Dress - Pretty n' Love

Wear It All Challenge: Aztec Denim

I actually did this one long ago but my laptop died just before I could save it and I don't remember exactly what items I used the first time. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what items and the second outfit turned out a little less impressive than the previous one.
This is one of my all time favorites on Stardoll - it's not too short, he print is beautiful and the colors compliment each other perfectly. I wear it both just as a dress or with a shirt over it as shown below and I often add a jacket for texture. With this dress one can never go wrong! It is inspired by this lovely dress by Nasty Gal:

I'm always uncertain of clashing prints but the stripes on the shirt fit quite well with the print of the dress. The colors work together just as well. I will talk more about the amazing design of the shirt whenever I reach the tops section of my closet. The clutch is as lovely as it gets and it gives me an Indian vibe so I think it fits into picture just right. The shoes, I'm not sure about - in real life I would've chosen ankle boots similar to those the model has but on Stardoll I couldn't resist going for platforms.

Clothes:
Aztec Print Dress - Original Future
Hot Buys Knot Striped Shirt - Hot Buys

Accessories:
Sienna Feather Earrings - Riviera
Glossed Box Clutch - Young Hollywood
Brown Platforms - Sonia Rykiel Tribute
RudeGirl Bracelet - St. Trininan's

Finally black... and improved!

My laptop betrayed me and decided to stop working so I was off for quite some time. God bless smartphones - if it wasn't for mine I would've been totally out of touch with the world!
My favorite red carpet event of the year - the Met Gala - passed and, unfortunately, I wasn't able to post about it here (Blake Lively's dress made the top of my list, if you're wondering) and now it just seems to late to write about it. Instead you can read this post on The Stardoll Lookbook.
Anyway, before I continue with my undertaking, I will comment on the new MS.TQ release, mainly because of the one amazing item in the collection - the Volume Base Hair. The other items are way too colorful for my taste but the new designs are not as flat as the previous ones were so, I'd call that an improvement.
But this hair, oh God! It's so perfect  - the shape, the shades, the few stray locks - I'm so in love with it that I'm willing to forget about my favorite auburn/coppery hair color just so I could wear it. And I will wear it a lot!
The up-do can be paired with everything - it will work well with both casual and formal clothing, it doesn't cover neither the ears nor the neck of my medoll therefore I can wear every necklace or earring I desire to and there are no bangs unless I wish there to be one. On top of all that the dusty brown will amazing with every single color. The Flowy Lock is just as classy as the base itself and the pink is creatively subtle so I think I will put it to use if I ever get bored of the basic look.
This lovely new hair and my long absence from Stardoll inspired me to make a drastic makeover in my facial features.

I went for a natural and realistic look with gently countered face, smoky eyes and nude lip. I'm more than happy with the final results - let me know what you think of it.

Wear It All Challenge: Spotted

That was quite boring to style. The dress is inspired by Emporio Armani's S/S 2010 Ready-To-Wear collection and it's cute in it's own way. Unfortunately, not in my way.

As much as I like clashing colors I just don't appreciate these two shades together. I just styled for the sake of the project and I don't think I'll ever wear it again. The shoes, on the other hand, I adore!

Wear It All Challenge: Coral limitations

This charming dress was from the Versace inspired dress was a part of last summer's LE collection and I couldn't resist buying it. Like most LE pieces it's not quite veritable but it stands alone beautifully.
I've always been a firm believer that Limited Edition consists of statement clothes that should be used on their own rather than in a tacky all LE outfit. Therefore every time I style a limited item I put the focus on it and try to go too far with the rest of the look.
This outfit is no exception - I removed all the jewellery from my doll and added the most simple and delicate shoes possible in order to compliment the dress without overwhelming it with accessorizes.

Clothes:
City Hippie Dress - LE

Accessories:
Queens Day Shoes - No brand

Wear It All Challenge: Fiery Waldorf

This one is a no-brainer - this dress, inspired by Dior's Ready-To-Wear collection back in the autumn of 2008, is one of the few dresses I like better on Stardoll rather tan in real life. The real version appeared in the fifth season of Gossip Girl (a guilty pleasure of mine) where Blair wore it to her bridal shower.

The sequins are jewelry enough so, just as Blair, I decided to forgo all other accessories and just used coral lipstick as an additional accent. Just as an homage to the show I went for a similar up-do as Blair's and I was finished.
